Portal Sandbox Combat: Knife, Pistol and PvP
Choose a Portal Sandbox combat task: learn the Knife swipe, select the Laser Pistol deliberately, or plan an encounter around one weapon and recovery. The guides keep those jobs distinct so an input mix-up does not become an unsupported claim about weapon strength.
Distinct weapon choicesQ selects Knife; X selects Laser Pistol.

I want to learn the swipe
Start with Q and the listed Knife action. The guide separates the swipe from Q/E confusion, pistol selection and a recovery choice after the attempt.
Practise KnifeI keep choosing the wrong gun
Use X for the Laser Pistol and distinguish it from the Portal Gun. Give the pistol its own attempt before repeatedly switching tools during an unclear encounter.
Select the pistolI need an encounter plan
Choose one weapon, remember E and keep T separate. The destination helps turn an exchange into one specific correction rather than a list of guesses.
Plan PvPAll combat guides
Knife, Laser Pistol and practical PvP choices.
Choose the weapon before judging the encounter
Q selects Knife and X selects Laser Pistol. The Knife instruction names a limb-cutting swipe; the pistol article keeps its selection separate from T for Portal Gun. Each weapon page gives a focused practice goal, while the PvP article connects the chosen tool with E for Regenerate and a clear travel choice. You can prefer one weapon without claiming a universal damage winner. If an action does not respond outside a busy fight, use the relevant input or beta troubleshooting guide before assuming a combat mechanic is responsible.
Questions about combat
Which weapon is strongest?
These guides do not present a measured damage ladder. Choose the action you want to practise; the toolkit tier list ranks first-session learning priority under stated editorial criteria, which is a different question.
Where does regeneration fit?
Remember E before starting the encounter, then choose recovery deliberately. It should not be treated as a guarantee of survival or an invulnerability rule. Its own guide keeps the normal input separate from diagnosing a repeated failure.

Remember the recovery action
Make E a separate choice beside the weapon you are practising, with a dedicated route for a repeated recovery symptom.
