Portal Sandbox Portal Gun: Controls and Variants
Portal Gun
- Select the tool: Press T for Portal Gun. X is the Laser Pistol, so keep the two gun inputs distinct.
- Choose Blender separately: For Blender Dimension, press F before entering a portal.
The Portal Sandbox Portal Gun uses T on keyboard. Begin with that tool selection, then decide whether you want ordinary portal play or the separate Blender action. A named gun variant in the shop is a different question from remembering how to select the travel tool.
Use T for the Portal Gun
Choose T when the Portal Gun is the tool you want. If you select X instead, you are asking for the Laser Pistol. Check that distinction before treating an unexpected gun as a broken portal action. It is particularly easy to mix them up when you are switching between exploring and a fight.
Give travel a quiet attempt before trying to use it during a crowded encounter. The aim is to recognize the gun and make a deliberate travel choice. Keep movement, equipment selection and any menu interaction understandable rather than pressing several actions together. If the gun does not respond at all, the Portal Gun troubleshooting guide separates missing selection from a later travel problem.
Make the Blender choice before crossing
Blender Dimension has an additional instruction: press F before entering a portal. Selecting the Portal Gun with T and making the Blender choice with F are two different jobs. Do not wait until after entering and assume that the same sequence has been followed.
If Blender is your immediate goal, use the Blender Dimension entry guide for that specific order. If you are simply learning the gun, keep the extra choice for a later attempt. You can practise the travel tool without turning every portal into a Blender attempt, and you can avoid confusing a Blender-order issue with selecting the wrong equipment.
Understand the advertised gun variants
The official shop names Ricks Prototype, Rick Primes Portal Gun, and Evil Morty’s Portal Gun. Ricks Prototype grants access to Rick’s original first portal gun. The Prime pass grants Rick Prime’s gun. The Evil Morty listing includes its Portal Gun, Portal Fluid and recolored UI buttons.
Those descriptions identify what the passes advertise. They are not a damage chart, a travel-speed comparison or a promise that one gun fixes a control problem. If your goal is appearance or a particular character’s version, the named option may fit that preference. If your goal is simply to learn portal play, make the basic controls familiar before deciding whether a variant is worth your own budget.
Choose the next travel question
After you can select the Portal Gun reliably, focus on the problem you actually have. A missing tool response belongs with input troubleshooting. An attempted Blender trip belongs with the F-before-entry order. A purchase decision belongs with the exact advertised product, rather than an assumption that a more recognizable name means a stronger tool.
Keep your next attempt narrow enough to explain. For example, “I selected T but got no tool response” is useful; “portals are broken” bundles several different problems together. If travel is comfortable and you want a new activity, move to the PvP guide instead of changing gun variants in search of a practice shortcut. Learning the travel input, choosing an optional appearance and learning combat are separate decisions you can make in whichever order serves your session.
